On October 7, 2023, the Move Junk team took part in a meaningful event that showcased the power of community and collective effort. Several of our dedicated team members actively participated in Civic Works big event – the annual Ricky Myers Day of Service. This morning initiative brought together over 100 individuals from diverse backgrounds, all driven by a shared goal: to give back to the community and make a positive impact. We dedicated a dumpster and junk removal services with one of the 11 impactful projects undertaken that day – cleaning out the basement of Civic Works’ headquarters, the historic Clifton Mansion in Clifton Park, Baltimore.

Move Junk contributed to this noble cause by providing our dumpster and hauling services for free. Our team members, along with numerous volunteers, worked diligently to clean out the basement of the Clifton Mansion. The event not only allowed us to showcase our commitment to community service but also provided an opportunity for us to collaborate and connect with like-minded individuals.

The Clifton Mansion, nestled in the heart of Clifton Park, Baltimore, holds immense historical significance. Built in the early 19th century, this architectural gem has served various purposes over the years and is now the headquarters of Civic Works, a prominent organization dedicated to community development and environmental stewardship. Once the summer home of Johns Hopkins (yep – the founder of the prestigious University and Hospital!), this structure has experienced a lot of history. By contributing our services to clean out the basement, we played a small yet significant role in preserving this historical landmark for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.

The Ricky Myers Day of Service epitomizes the spirit of volunteerism and collective action. It is heartening to witness individuals from different walks of life come together, united by their passion for community service. The shared sense of purpose was palpable as volunteers and organizations, including Move Junk, collaborated seamlessly to achieve a common goal – to enhance the community’s well-being and preserve its heritage.

The impact of our collective efforts reverberates far beyond the physical act of cleaning out a basement. By participating in events like the Ricky Myers Day of Service, we foster a sense of pride and ownership in our community. Moreover, such initiatives inspire others to join the cause, creating a ripple effect of positive change. By preserving historical landmarks and supporting organizations like Civic Works, we contribute to the overall betterment of our community and create a more vibrant and sustainable future.

During the Ricky Myers Day of Service, our team’s dedication and hard work were met with heartfelt appreciation from the community members, volunteers, and Civic Works. We are delighted to share some of the testimonials we received that day, which reflect the impact of our efforts and the spirit of collaboration that permeated the event.

Our Involvement
